The pursuit of the perfect ride, rooted in Scandinavian design tradition.
VELO began in 2018 when founder Anders Holm left a decade in automotive design with a single conviction: bicycles should be simpler. Not cheaper or faster — just more honest.
Working from a repurposed fishing warehouse in Nordhavn, Anders built the first prototype with a borrowed welding torch and steel tubing sourced from a defunct shipyard. That frame — raw, unadorned, and perfectly balanced — became the blueprint for everything we build today.
We remain intentionally small. Every VELO bicycle passes through the hands of a master builder before it reaches yours. No assembly lines. No quarterly growth targets. Just an unwavering commitment to making the best urban bicycles in the world.
Sustainability in the bicycle industry is often reduced to material choices. We believe it's about longevity. A VELO bicycle is designed for decades of use — every component is serviceable, replaceable, and upgradeable.
Our frames carry a lifetime warranty. When a VELO eventually reaches the end of its road, we take it back through our Circular Program — refurbishing what we can and recycling the rest. In 2025, we recovered and repurposed 94% of returned materials.
All packaging is plastic-free. Our supply chain is 100% European and Japanese, minimizing transport distances and ensuring ethical labor standards at every tier.
Our manufacturing partners in Sweden, Italy, and Japan represent the gold standard in their respective crafts. From the butted chromoly tubes drawn in Milan to the brass-brazed lugs formed in Osaka, every detail reflects generations of metallurgical expertise.
Each frame spends an average of 18 hours in production — from initial tube cutting to final alignment check. The paint is a four-stage process that takes five days to cure fully. We could go faster. We choose not to.
The result is a bicycle that feels alive beneath you — responsive without being twitchy, comfortable without being sluggish. Ride one and you'll understand.
